Metonymy
Substituting the name of the feature for the name of the thing
- You have all of my heart (love)
- Please tell, I'm all ears (I'm listening)

Paradox
A statement that contradicts itself
- I can't resist anything bu temptation - Oscar Wilde
- All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others - George Orwell, Animal Farm

Synedoche
Using part of something to refer to the entire thing
- Stop wagging your tongue, (stop gossiping)
- The boots were sprinting up and down the field, (the rugby players were sprinting up and down the         field)
